It's the first question every customer asks: "Will a Google Nest or ecobee actually work with my air conditioner?" The honest answer is almost always yes — but it depends on your wiring, not your AC brand. Here's how to tell.
Compatibility is about the control system, not the logo
People assume a "Daikin thermostat" only works with Daikin. That's not how it works. Smart thermostats like Nest and ecobee talk to the low-voltage control side of your HVAC system, and most ducted and ducted-split systems in the UAE — regardless of brand — use a similar 24-volt control interface.
That's why we can install smart thermostats on systems from Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy, O General, Carrier, Trane, York, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, Samsung, LG, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Gree, Midea, AUX, Toshiba and Bosch — and more. The brand matters far less than the type of control wiring behind your existing thermostat.
The two things that actually decide compatibility
1. Do you have the right control wiring (and a C-wire)?
Standard 24V systems are the easy case. The one common catch is the C-wire (common wire), which many smart thermostats need for continuous power. Plenty of UAE homes don't have one at the thermostat — but that's a routine fix. We run a proper C-wire or fit a compatible adapter. We explain it fully in what is a C-wire and do you need one.
2. Is your system 24V — or 220V / inverter / proprietary?
Some systems don't use standard 24V control:
- 220V / 240V line-voltage split systems — common in apartments and older setups.
- Inverter units with their own proprietary controllers.
- VRF / VRV and chiller fan-coil systems with manufacturer control protocols.
These aren't "plug-and-play" for an off-the-shelf smart thermostat — and this is exactly where a lot of installers say "sorry, not possible."
Not natively compatible? We still have a solution
Here's the important part: even if your system isn't natively compatible, we can still make it smart. For 220V/240V and other non-standard systems, our engineers fit a safe interface module that lets your Google Nest or ecobee control the AC without modifying or damaging your machine, and without depending on or cutting into its internal PCB control board. Your unit keeps working exactly as the manufacturer designed it — it simply gains smart control on top.
